If you are looking to lose your “love handles” you need a focused workout to tone your oblique muscles. This quick gym routine aims to fire at those trouble areas and get you looking and feeling your best.

Kettle Bell: Tea Pots

Start by choosing a kettle bell that you are comfortable with, stand with your feet shoulder width apart, and hang the kettle bell at your side with one hand. Place the other hand behind your head, slowly lower the kettle bell until it almost touches the floor and then lift back to a standing position. Do 15-20 reps and then switch sides.

Captains Chair: Leg Circles

Lift your self onto the machine, putting your weight on your elbows and letting your feet hang down. Lift your legs so they are parallel with the floor and move your feet around in a large circular motion. Do 10-15 circles then switch directions.

Pull-Up Bar: Hanging bicycle legs

Hang on the pull-up bar and pull your knees up toward your chest, “pedal” your invisible bicycle in the air in front of you. It may also look like you are running in mid-air. Do this for 30-45 seconds.

Pull-Up Bar: Hanging side-to-side Knees

Hang on the pull up bar and pull your knees up level with your hips, turn your body slightly as you bring your knees up towards the right side of your body. Alternate right and left side for 20-30 reps.

Cable Machine: Standing side crunches

Stand with the machine to your side and hold the cable above your head with one hand, place the other hand on your hip and lean away from the machine into a standing side crunch. The cable adds resistance to this basic standing move.

Bosu Ball: Russian Twists

Place the bosu ball on the floor, flat side down. Sit on the ball, lean back slightly and lift your feet off the floor. Place your hands together in front of your chest and twist your upper body from side to side. Do 30-40 reps. BONUS: Hold a medicine ball or kettle bell while twisting for added resistance.

This routine will tone your tummy and obliterate your obliques. Over time, you can increase the weight resistance and the number of reps for each move and you can achieve even better results. With a little time and effort, you can change your “muffin top” into muscle tone and be the best you that you can be.
