Radical Resilience: Trey’s Story
In September of 2001, I was in an accident caused by a drunk driver and my world was forever changed.
Here’s a brief list of the resulting physical injuries:
- Fractured almost every vertebrae in my back & shattered T 11-12
- Spine 80% severed
- Broken jaw
- Torn rotator cuff
After 2 years of rehab, I was finally able to walk again without assistance.
Then life happened as it does to us all:
I got married, had children and started my business. Feeling like I didn’t have enough hours in the day, I gave up on the rehab exercises. When I stopped the rehab work, the inactivity had a progressive negative effect on my nervous system. Short version- my muscles would decide to stop working at the most inconvenient times. Needless to say, I got used to falling down… a lot. I accepted my physical condition and convinced myself that was the end of it. I believed it was impossible to change my situation.
Flash forward 15 years:
I was overweight and unhappy. I didn’t have energy and had lost the zest for life that used to be so normal for me. That’s when a good friend referred me to Michael Prince, Co-founder @360fitness. I was intrigued because my friend told me that this guy was not only an amazing trainer with over 25 years of experience helping people get in the best shape of their lives while keeping them safe but, that he was also a RN, BSN and Air Force Veteran. I honestly didn’t think he would want the headache of a client with so many injuries, but when I spoke with Mike, he put my mind at ease.
Here we are now and I can honestly say that getting his help was one of the best things I’ve ever done. I feel amazing, have tons of energy and have lost over 30 lbs while adding a significant amount of muscle.
The best part is….. I DON’T FALL DOWN ANYMORE.
Now, when I do happen to trip or stub my toe as we all do from time to time, I am strong enough to stabilize my own body without help.
